Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is a proper RPG that respects your time more than most. You gather a party of distinct characters, each with their own quirks and a skill tree that actually matters when fights get tense. The writing carried us further than we expected; side characters have arcs instead of being quest vending machines.
Combat is turn-based and leans on positioning. Flanking enemies, chaining elemental effects, and timing your big abilities all feed into a satisfying rhythm. On harder difficulties you really do need to plan a turn ahead, which is rare for a mobile RPG.
Our one gripe is the inventory screen, which gets cluttered fast. Everything else, from the hand-painted backdrops to the moody soundtrack, pulls you in. We lost a full evening to it without noticing.
What we liked
- Writing that makes you care about the party
- Tactical combat with real depth
- A soundtrack worth keeping the sound on for
